MISO

MISO is an independent, not-for-profit organization that manages the flow of high-voltage electricity across portions of 15 states in the Midwest and the South of the United States, serving more than 45 million people. It operates one of the world's largest real-time energy markets. The organization is member-based, coordinating among its stakeholders to ensure reliable and efficient grid operations.

Its technical work spans energy markets, transmission infrastructure planning, grid reliability coordination, and integrating renewable energy sources into the power system. The organization combines research with advanced technology to support the region's electricity transmission and distribution needs.

MISO maintains offices in Carmel, Indiana; Little Rock, Arkansas; and Eagan, Minnesota.
